Forever Family Day

ONE YEAR AGO YESTERDAY-We accidentally woke up at 3:30 am or thereabouts because our wake up call never came. Rushed to pack, get dressed and feed the baby....Ran downstairs to hop on the shuttlebus to get to the airport, impatiently waited in an extraordinarily long line for that time of the morning and THEN SAT FOR 2 hours waiting for our plane. I guess the important thing is that this particular time it wasn't just Brian and I waiting-Mackenzie was waiting with us. I can still feel how excited I was for her to meet her brother and sister.
When we got to Houston we went through customs or immigration or whatever it is that we went thru with our GIANT MANILLA ENVELOPE. All I remember thinking is that it wasn't real and something was going to be wrong with whatever was in that GIANT MANILLA ENVELOPE and they were gonna rip her out of my arms and tell us to leave. But of course you know that didn't happen. Actually we were in and out of there so quickly that I thought we were pulling something over on them......I kept looking over my shoulder expecting to see someone chasing after us.
We boarded our second flight of the day and we were exhausted but so releived to have touched US soil with our tiny little blessing we didn't care.
Now one year later Kenzie is celebrating Forever Family Day by eating Baskin-Robbins with her brother and sister and mom and dad.. We sat around the table and exchanged our favorite Mackenzie memories of the last year.

Miles said his was when he saw her walk for the first time.
Abby said Memorial Day weekend when she and Mackenzie were playing in the sand at the beach.
I of course had more than one but narrowed it down to her Baptism day.
And Dad said the one night in 365 days that she slept in her own bed the entire night. He exxagerating of course. She does come in to our bed a lot. Sometimes it's 5:00 sometimes it's 1:00 sometimes not at all. And I know it's not right and doesn't create healthy sleeping habits for her but right now, TODAY, I don't care........I'm just so happy that she's here, healthy and happy.

Nothing is better than that my friends.
